erhaps counterproductively, I shall begin by stating that I am not normally a fan of these sites. I find them to be a bit creepy, and I prefer one-on-one communication, ideally in person, and including cake. That said, my husband (Ty Sagalow, in case you have not picked up on the context clues) has cancer. And not just any cancer. Pancreatic cancer. The really scary, yucky one. And, in the past week since his diagnosis, I have been fielding calls, texts, and DMs from friends, family, and random opposing counsel, all of whom love Ty (even opposing counsel) and are concerned about his condition.
Responding to everyone individually was getting to be a bit much, so I was encouraged by friends to create this site, to be used as a central dispensary for news about Ty (from me) and a central repository for messages to Ty and me (from you). I agree to maintain the site and give out full gory details about Ty's condition, if, and only if, you each solemnly swear that you will not let the site serve as a proxy for a real connection and that you will commit to hanging with me one-on-one soon. Including cake.
So, with that out of the way, here are the deets: Ty has a gonzo tumor on his pancreas. The bad news is that it is the size of a small third-grader. The good news (and this is truly good news) is that it has somehow miraculously grown in a way that still leaves it resectable. (That means the surgeons can hack it out). Only a small percentage of pancreatic tumors are resectable, so we are feeling pretty, pretty good. Ty will undergo surgery on Thursday, November 16* at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. *Surgery was originally scheduled for November 9, but was postponed by the surgeon for reasons that involve veins and arteries and are far above my pay grade to explain.
According to the senior surgeon (arrogant) and the young resident (handsome), the surgery will followed by chemo. But that, dear readers, is Season Two. For now, tune back in to this channel on Thursday November 16 for updates on how Ty's surgery goes. In the interim, feel free to send uplifting messages, funny memes, or stories about how your aunt's neighbor survived pancreatic cancer, and then went on to swim the English Channel.
